This isn't just another whiskey chocolate bar. It's a bold fusion of fire, sweetness, and depth, where Colombian Boyaca cacao meets Demon Seed whiskey from Boston Harbor Distillery, a rye spirit infused with whole Scorpion peppers, fresh ginger, and real maple syrup. To magnify the tasting experience, Goodnow Farms adds maple sugar from Severance Maple and presses the cocoa butter from the same Boyaca cacao beans used in the chocolate. The result? A devilishly complex bar that plays with heat, sweetness, and spice in all the right ways.

Personal Reflection
This is undoubtedly one of the best whiskey-chocolate inclusions I’ve ever tasted, and one of the spiciest. But let me be clear: this isn’t an unpleasant, overwhelming kind of heat. It’s a clean, steady burn that builds as the chocolate melts on your tongue, and yes, even tingles on your lips after a few seconds. And yet, it’s completely irresistible.
The maple sugar brings a rich, sticky sweetness that perfectly balances the heat, elevating the entire flavor experience. The chocolate bar strikes with remarkable intensity, yet it's surprisingly well-balanced. Its bold, multi-layered profile pulls you in and keeps you coming back.
The presence of the Rye Whiskey is subtle at first. You mainly feel its influence in the finish, with that lingering aftertaste that mimics sipping a neat glass of whiskey. It leaves your palate slightly dry, with faint astringency and a beautiful echo of toasted oak and vanilla. But before that, you're hit with waves of Scorpion pepper, fresh ginger, and smoky caramel notes, all intensified by the maple influence.
The finish is long, complex, and slightly woody, with hints of sea salt and that earthy, sharp touch you’d expect from a high-quality rye. It’s warm, elegant, and perfectly executed.
Creamy in texture, slow-melting, and full-bodied. This limited edition doesn’t just deliver flavor; it demands your attention.
Thank you, Tom and Monica, for sharing this sample with me.
